In 1871 Jens moved his family to Salina. The Indians were very troublesome here, stealing their cows and horses. After the Indian scare was over, Jens again moved his family back to Gunnison, where they built a home.

It is assumed that 'Mary Jobison' is Mary Jeppesen for the following reasons: 1) the similarity of the last names, e.g. in Jens Jeppeson's patriarchal blessing in 1875 Jeppeson is spelled Jeppison, 2) Jens died in 1879, so Mary would be a widow by the time this census was taken, and 3) daughters Sophia and Mary were 16 and 13 years of age in 1880.
