Richard is said to have married a French girl. He is also said to have married Harriet Maddox (as per Dawn Kunz of Hamilton MT) or Harriet Mae Jackson (found on FG Sheet received from Irva P. James). The marriage date comes from the corrected FG Sheet sent by Mary Bassett to Mildred Norman. The marriage date is the same for a marriage to Harriet Maddox and a marriage to Harriet Mae Jackson.

I have chosen to accept Harriet Maddox as the correct name of Richard's 1st wife for the following reasons: 1) there is a Logan temple baptism date of 12 Aug 1884 with Mary Jane Price Oldham (a niece)as proxy; 2) the sealing date to Harriet Maddox is earlier than the sealing date(s) to Harriet Mae Jackson; 3) Richard Bishop gives the death date of his wife as 31 Jan 186?, the same date that is found in the baptism record; 4) Richard states in a letter (dated 1875) addressed to his brother John in England, "Remember us to Mr. Maddox."

I have concluded that he married a second time to Harriet Mae Jackson on 13 Apr 1866 since this date is after the death date of Harriet Maddox.
